The 2020 McCarthy Symposium, “Vietnam 1970: Homefront and Battlefront,” an all day event that was to be hosted by The Dale Center at the University of Southern Mississippi on April 3, 2020, has unfortunately been cancelled, or at least postponed, as a result of precautionary measures being taken to slow the spread of COVID-19. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War events of 1970 and the Jackson State College shooting, this year’s symposium was to feature panels of American and Vietnamese veterans of the Vietnam War, as well as Vietnam War scholars, and a keynote address on the Jackson State shooting.

Stay tuned for updates if/when this important symposium is rescheduled or switched to virtual conference format.
