Sir! No Sir! film screening
November 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST
This special screening of Sir! No Sir! with filmmaker David Zeiger is part of a series of events presented November 11-15, 2019 by Partnerships for International Strategies in Asia and the Elliott School of International Affairs in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Mobilization for Peace.
FILM LOCATION: Room 213 of the Elliott School.
SYNOPSIS: In this documentary, celebrities such as Jane Fonda join their voices with veterans and soldiers to recount the largely suppressed antiwar movement that occurred within the United States military over the course of the Vietnam War. Using archival news footage and contemporary interviews with Vietnam veterans, the film discusses the G.I.s’ growing distrust of the war and details the U.S. Army’s swift, severe and often secret response to the expression of antiwar sentiments within its ranks. The event includes a post-screening discussion with the director and Vietnam-era GI resisters.
