The Future of the VA’s Infrastructure
April 30 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDTFree
A part of the VA MISSION Act of 2018 (Sections 201-210) established an Asset and Infrastructure Review (AIR) Commission to evaluate all VA facilities’ utilization patterns and infrastructure need, currently and into the future. The commission will meet during 2021 and 2023. At the end of that process, it will recommend whether to close, replace, consolidate, expand or repurpose them. The Commission’s final list will be largely insulated from Congress, which must vote it up or down.
This commission’s deliberations will greatly influence the VA’s future, and its ability to provide comprehensive care for our veterans, for better or worse.
The Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute (VHPI) is conducting significant policy research around this commission, and what is needed to improve the VA’s ability to deliver high quality care to veterans – and enhance the health of all of us – in the future.
We will be sharing some of our thoughts and findings at a Zoom forum on April 30, Friday, at 3 PM EST/ NOON PST.
