An oral history interview conducted on August 16, 2017, with Patrick Dooley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dooley, a native of Beloit, Wisconsin, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He discusses: his decision to volunteer for the draft; his training; arriving in Vietnam; his role as an assistant machine gunner; their missions; being shot at; searching villages; his experiences of Operation Pegasus during the Battle of Khe Sang and Operation Delaware in the A Shau Valley; and coming home.
